The Elbe-Elster region is the south western- most part of the state of Brandenburg. Foliage and pine wood forests, heath lands and nature parks are situated between the river Elbe and the Lausitz Heights, where smaller rivers like 'Schwarze Elster' and 'Kleine Elster' flow. The mostly flat landscape is ideal for horse back riding and cycling. In the forests and along the banks of the rivers you can on a lucky day observe foxes, kingfishers and even Elbe-beavers.
